Electric Bikes and Scooters are Critical Technology for Smart Cities

What technology is fueling the smart and sustainable cities of the world today? That’s the question posed in the article Electric Mobility Devices: Critical Technologies for Smart Cities, and it’s no surprise that electric bikes and electric scooters are a big part of the answer. The article describes how electric mobility devices – e-bikes, e-scooters, and e-car sharing programs –  are helping communities achieve goals related to cleaner energy and reduced traffic congestion.

Dedicated bicycles lanes and electric vehicle charging stations are just a few examples of what smart cities can provide if e-mobility is to flourish. The article points to several success stories of e-mobility happening today. Germany is now building over 100 km (62 miles) of bicycle highways, and Taiwan boasts a network of electric battery exchanges.

Motorino agrees that once infrastructure and policies supporting e-bikes and e-scooters are implemented, a city will see more of its citizens trading four wheels for two.  Read the article..
